If you still need to book your holiday travel plans or want to organize a winter getaway, now’s the perfect time. Amtrak regularly has seasonal sales on its popular routes, and it just announced its winter sale, ideal for holiday travel. Called the Winter Wanderlust Sale, you can expect 30% off select routes on dates between December 2, 2025, and March 15, 2026. The sale will run for a week, starting today, November 6, through November 13.

“Winter is a special time to travel by train, whether visiting family, embracing the cold weather, or planning a warm-weather escape,” said Amtrak Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Eliot Hamlisch regarding the sale “From snow-covered mountains to festive city skylines, our Winter Wonderland Sale makes it easier and more affordable to experience the season in comfort without the stress of traffic or icy roads.”
There are several blackout dates to be aware of, during which the sale will not apply to fares. Some notable blackout dates include December 19 through 23 and December 26 through 30. Check out the rest of the blackout dates here:

- January 1, 2026 — January 4, 2026
- January 16, 2026, January 19, 2026, February 13, 2026, February 16, 2026
The sale is offered on trips all around the country, including from Oakland to Seattle, with a one-way fare at $86. Another West Coast route on sale is Portland to Seattle, for $28, and you can even travel from Chicago to Los Angeles for $121. There are also numerous routes on the East Coast included in the sale, such as Boston to New York City and Chicago to New York City, among many others.
