The Bay Area’s women’s professional soccer team, Bay FC, is set to host an exciting game at Oracle Park this August. The match will be the first time the women’s soccer team plays at the iconic stadium, which is home to the San Francisco Giants. The highly anticipated match is on August 23rd at 1 p.m. against the Washington Spirit.
“Oracle Park is an iconic venue and has proven across its 25-year history to be a gathering place for the most passionate fans in sports. We’re eager for the opportunity to create league history alongside the Washington Spirit by being the first professional women’s teams to play at Oracle Park and thankful to the San Francisco Giants for their support of our ambitions,” said Bay FC CEO Brady Stewart in a recent statement. “Playing a match in San Francisco allows us to connect with our fans from around the Bay Area in an incredible setting.”
Bay FC typically plays home games out of PayPal Park in San Jose, making the match at Oracle Park an exciting opportunity for fans based in SF to see the team play right in the city. Bay FC has already gained massive popularity since its debut in 2024, with its first match selling out. The new women’s soccer team’s success comes as women’s sports continue to grow in popularity, especially in the Bay Area. This year, the Golden State Valkyries debuted, already breaking WNBA records for game attendance.
“We’re honored to welcome Bay FC and the NWSL to Oracle Park for what will be a truly historic moment,” said Stephen Revetria, President of Giants Enterprises. “Oracle Park has long been home to iconic events across sports and entertainment, and we’re proud to host our first-ever women’s professional soccer match this summer. The match represents a milestone not only for the ballpark, but for the entire Bay Area community.”
While this is the first professional women’s soccer match Oracle Park has hosted, men’s teams have played at the stadium over the years. In 2006, the stadium drew 37,000 fans to watch the U.S. Men’s team compete for the FIFA World Cup, and thousands came to the stadium to watch the San Jose Earthquakes in 2012.
Tickets for the game are currently on sale, but they’re going fast. You can also see Bay FC regularly play at PayPal Park in San Jose.
