Each June, California State Parks Week celebrates the beauty of California’s 280 state parks with several hundred free events taking place all throughout the state. Activities include guided hikes, festivals, parties, cultural celebrations, and cleanups, where everyone can come out to enjoy the beauty and diversity of our abundant state park system. Bay Area events for California State Parks Week
Wednesday-Friday, June 11-13, 2025
- June 11, 11am-2pm: Kickoff CA State Parks Week at Samuel P. Taylor SP – Guided hike and Bay Area partner programming
- June 12, 8-11am: Morning Bird Walk at Angel Island SP – Board the State Park boat to reach the island before the general public for a guided bird walk
- June 12, 9am and 10:30am: Birding for Beginners at Natural Bridges SB – State park docents lead a beginner’s bird walk at the beach
- June 12, 2-4pm: Biodiverse Biomes – Hike and Bioblitz at Tomales Bay SP – A guided hike through Tomales Bay’s Indian Beach Trail Loop
- [EVENT IS FULL] June 13, 10-11am: Forest Bathing at Mount Tamalpais SP – A 1-mile walk where visitors can experience the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, or Forest Bathing
- June 13, 3-4pm: Celebrate Pride Month with Isaac Fellman at Samuel P. Taylor SP – Archivist and writer Isaac Fellman teaches about Elsa Gidlow, a lesbian poet who was influential in the counterculture community of Marin County
- June 13, 4-5:30pm: A Landscape Shaped by Fire: Exploring Fire Resiliency Work in Trione-Annadel SP – Learn about how fire influenced the landscape at Trione-Annadel on a 4-mile guided hike
- June 13: Free Admission to the Immigration Station at Angel Island SP – Explore the Angel Island Immigration Museum and the Detention Barracks Museum for free on Saturday and Sunday. 1-hour guided tours are available at 11am, 12:15pm, or 1:30pm.

- June 14: Free Admission to the Immigration Station at Angel Island SP – Explore the Angel Island Immigration Museum and the Detention Barracks Museum for free on Friday and Saturday. 1-hour guided tours are available at 11am, 12:15pm, or 1:30pm.
- June 14, 9am-12:30pm: Grounded in Nature: A Mindful Walk at Jack London SHP – Meditation expert Jeff Falconer leads a Walking Meditation with a relaxed trail loop followed by an optional, moderate 4-mile hike
- June 14, 10:30am-3pm: Vaquero Days: Open House at Castro Adobe SP – Learn about how Californios used cows to produce goods like soap, candles, and leather at this all-day event with live music and kids’ activities
- June 14, 11am-2:30pm: Beach Cleanup Day on Angel Island – Take a guided beach hike to one of the island’s many beaches and help staff with beautification and trash cleanup
- June 14, 11am-3pm: Inspired by Land – Art in Parks at Bothe-Napa Valley SP – A celebration of art and park landscapes with interactive art workshops, artist pop-ups, and guided hikes focused on photography, drawing, and painting
- June 14, 11am-4pm: Portola Redwoods State Park 80th Anniversary Party – A state park birthday party with food, live music, games, art, and guided hikes
- June 14, 11am-1pm: Redwood Resiliency and Me at Samuel P. Taylor SP – A guided 1-mile hike through one of CA’s few remaining Old Growth Coast Redwood Groves
- June 14, 12-3pm: Back To Nature Block Party at Candlestick Point SRA – Join Candlestick Point SRA as they hang banner artwork on the community fence, with activities like kite flying, art stations, animal ambassadors, and local food vendors
- June 14, 12-5pm: Ocean Fest at Seacliff State Beach – An afternoon beach festival with kids activities, vendors, live music, and great food
- June 14, 1-3pm: Art in the Park: Plant Tunes at Half Moon Bay SB – Take a leisurely walk with a PlantWave, which is used to listen to the distinct sounds made by different plants. Then, create a unique piece of artwork inspired by the plant tunes.

- June 15, 9am-1:30pm: Arriba & Beyond: A Bilingual Summit Hike at Jack London SHP – Carlos Barrigan leads this bilingual hike where you’ll learn the Spanish and English names for trees, flowers, and wildlife along the route
- June 15, 11am-2pm: Hike or Bike at Angel Island SP – A guided Father’s Day hiking or biking tour around the perimeter of Angel Island.
