Christmas in the Park will be back in San Jose this year from Nov. 25, 2023 through Jan. 1, 2024. The popular event has two main attractions in different parts of San Jose: the drive-through holiday light show at History Park, and the Downtown Park Walk-Through with Christmas exhibits and more at Cesar Chavez Plaza.
Christmas in the Park kicks off with an opening celebration on the night of Friday, Nov. 24, and you can visit the Downtown Park displays daily from Nov. 25, 2023 through Jan. 1, 2024. You’ll need tickets for the drive-through experience opening Nov. 29. Read on for more details about these magical events.

Embark upon a magical musical journey by car, where you’ll pass through a mind-blowing light tunnel and enjoy a synchronized holiday light show with millions of colors. Be advised that there is no food or drink at this year’s drive-through, but you can check out the vendors at the nearby Christmas in the Park downtown walk-through. We recommend bringing a toasty thermos of hot chocolate to sip on while you enjoy the ride!
Christmas in the Park downtown walk-through
Daily Nov. 24 through Jan. 1
Plaza de Cesar Chavez, Downtown San Jose, 1 Paseo de San Antonio, San Jose
San Jose’s Christmas in the Park programming dates back to 1950, and it’s still outdoing itself. This year, check out a walk-through Christmas tree towering 65 feet above Cesar Chavez Plaza, plus new light displays and more surprises. A community stage will host a variety of acts including local choirs, bands, dance troupes, and special holiday movie nights. Santa will be available for free Santa visits through Dec. 24.
Don’t forget to take a look at the Enchanted Forest trees, a collection of community-decorated trees for non-profits, local groups, in memoriam, and more. The Habitat for Humanity Playhouse competition will also show the best of San Jose’s spirit of service.
In 2019, Christmas in the Park raised over $200,000 for local and national non-profit organizations. Get involved in this beloved event to play your part and support the Bay Area community.
While you’re in San Jose, it’s worth putting some other events on your radar. The enormous SJMade Holiday Fair is coming up on Nov. 24-25, and you can visit Downtown Ice for a fun holiday ice rink experience. Another option is Enchant San Jose, a sprawling Christmas maze at PayPal Park.
