With Covid levels on the rise, it’s essential to be in the know about your testing options should you develop symptoms or come into contact with someone who has Covid-19. SF.gov has plenty of resources for getting tested in the city, which we’ve broken down here.
Map of free & paid sites
This map of San Francisco lists all the free and paid testing sites in the city, which you may filter by those requiring insurance, those that are closest to you, and more. Make sure to double-check holiday hours at the clinics.
Testing by appointment
- Healthcare providers are required by law to get you a test should you have symptoms or a Covid exposure. If you have insurance, give them a call to make an appointment.
- City-run testing centers are free and do not require insurance. You can schedule appointments 3 days in advance at these ones.
- Urgent care centers accept most insurance but may charge a fee.
- Neighborhood testing sites do not require insurance.

Drop-in testing
- Places open for drop-ins daily/almost daily:
- Alemany Farmers Market (walk-thru and drive-thru at 100 Alemany Boulevard): Drop-ins accepted starting at 2pm Mondays, 11am Tuesday-Thursday, and before 1pm Fridays. Drop-in capacity is limited.
- Southeast Health Center (2401 Keith Street): 8am-5pm Monday-Saturday. Closes at 1pm 12/31 and closed on 1/1.
- Ella Hill Hutch Center (1181 Golden Gate Ave): 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. Closed New Year’s Day.
- Curative Covid Self-Testing Kiosk (Parkmerced – Garces & Vidal Dr): 8am-3pm Tuesday-Saturday.
- True Hope Church Ministries (950 Gilman Ave): 11am-6pm Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Closed 12/31 and 1/1.
- Places open for drop-ins 1-2 days a week
- Third Baptist Church (1399 McAllister), 11 am to 6 pm Tuesdays and Saturdays, 11am-8pm. Wednesday. Closed 1/1.
- Bayview Opera House (4705 3rd Street): 9am-4pm Mondays and Thursdays.
- GLIDE Memorial Church parking lot (330 Ellis Street), 10 am to 4 pm Tuesday-Wednesday.
- 1099 Sunnydale Ave: 10am-2pm Mondays.
- 20 Norton Street: 10am-6pm Mondays.
- 90 Kiska Rd: 10am-3pm Tuesdays.
- Treasure Island (Avenue D and 9th St Parking Lot between Childcare and Service Center), 10 am to 2 pm Tuesdays.
- Treasure Island Nurse Clinic (749 9th Street), 2pm-6pm Tuesdays.
- Portsmouth Square (745 Kearny St in Chinatown): 10 am to 5 pm Wednesdays.
- 2055 Sunnydale Avenue: 10 am to 2 pm Wednesdays.

At-home testing
- Self-collection kits can be ordered over-the-corner from pharmacies or by mail.
