This weekend, Dead & Company will play three live shows in Golden Gate Park to celebrate the 60th anniversary of The Grateful Dead. The highly anticipated shows were announced earlier this spring, and thousands of people are expected to attend the concerts each day. As a result, San Franciscans can expect some changes to transit and roads over the weekend, especially around Golden Gate Park.

Extra Muni Services
Muni will offer extra services this weekend on the N Judah and 5R Fulton Rapid after the shows to accommodate the influx of people expected around the park. The N Juda will have extra trains along the full route, while the 5R Fulton will have additional buses with specific destination signs instead of a full route.
Road closures
Thankfully, road closures will be minimal for the concerts. Only JFK Drive from Transverse to 36th Avenue in Golden Gate Park will be closed for the shows. Although there are minimal road closures this weekend, SFMTA advises people to expect heavier traffic than usual on the roads around Golden Gate Park and Muni routes. This includes the 7 Haight/Noriega, 28 19th Avenue, 29 Sunset, and 44 O’Shaughnessy stops near Golden Gate Park.
Concert Shuttles
Organizers for the concert have arranged a shuttle service to help transport people to the concert. Shuttle services will have pickup locations at either Cow Palace or Bill Graham Civic Center and take concertgoers to the park. Some passes will include parking at the pickup location, while others do not, so be sure to reserve the right ticket for you. You will need to buy an additional ticket to reserve your spot on the Coach style bus, and you can find tickets and more information here.
The Dead & Company three-day anniversary concert is in Golden Gate Park this weekend, August 1-3. If you didn’t have the chance to score tickets to the shows, we recommend checking out Jerry Day in McLaren Park this Saturday. The event honors iconic Musician Jerry Garcia with free music in the park.
