Two years ago, San Francisco’s first entertainment zone, which allows to-go beverages during events, debuted with a free Oktoberfest celebration. The block party shut down part of Front Street to celebrate Oktoberfest with music, drinks, and games. Now, the free celebration is returning for 2026, with thousands of attendees expected.
Oktoberfest on Front Street
San Francisco’s Front Street entertainment zone is once again hosting a free Oktoberfest celebration, shutting down a block in Downtown San Francisco for an exciting block party. The Oktoberfest celebration is scheduled for Friday, September 18, from 2 to 10 pm.
Attendees can expect live music, food, drinks, and themed games. As usual, guests are encouraged to come in lederhosen and dirndls to fully get into the Oktoberfest spirit
“Front Street and all of downtown promises to be buzzing with energy for Oktoberfest on Front,” said District 3 Supervisor Danny Sauter, San Francisco. “This is San Francisco at our best: small businesses opening up their doors, and neighbors and friends gathering together to revel in our city’s beauty and spirit.”
Due to the success of previous block parties, organizers are expecting 6,000 attendees at the 2026 celebration. Local bars Harringtons and Schroeders will join in on the fun with drink specials and food.
“Last year’s Oktoberfest on Front was the biggest event in Schroeder’s 130-year history —
drawing twice the crowd we usually see for major events like Oktoberfest and St. Patrick’s Day,”

Entertainment Zone has helped us bring people back downtown in a big way, and we’re proud
to keep writing this new chapter for the neighborhood alongside our neighbors and broader San
Francisco community.”The Front Street entertainment zone was the first of several now open in San Francisco, allowing adults to have to-go beverages during events like the Oktoberfest block party. The Downtown SF Partnership organizes the event and has helped foster many popular events, including Downtown First Thursdays.
