SF Rec & Parks has announced the launch of a new pilot program bringing food trucks to the Great Highway on its car-free days, which begin on Fridays at noon and end Mondays at 6am, plus holidays. The long stretch of roadway alongside Ocean Beach is a popular walking and cycling route, and the addition of food trucks will likely be a very welcome one!
Food trucks currently scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays include the following:
Viva Vegan
Plant-based burgers with a side of fries. Find it in the northbound lane at Judah on Saturdays from 10:30am-2:30pm and Sundays from 10am to 1:30pm.
California Kahve
Organic espresso and matcha drinks, plus pastries and snacks. Find it in the northbound lane at Taraval on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 3pm.
The Great Highway closed completely to cars during the pandemic, but reduced its pedestrian-only days down to only weekends back in August. The Board of Supervisors continues to evaluate legislation to extend partial closure of the Great Highway beyond the pandemic.
Stay tuned as we learn more about food trucks coming to the Great Highway!
