The boy who lives, lives on until the 12th of July.

With more awards than we can bear to mention – 6 Tony awards, including Best Play, for example – the Hogwart alumni have earned themselves more time on the Bay Area stage. As the only West Coast city to be graced with the highly acclaimed play, the production will be extended at San Francisco’s Curran Theatre until July 12, 2020. This means that those traveling from Sonoma County and beyond will have enough time to get here and see it before it vanishes in a puff of smoke.
The play will undoubtedly transport you back to your childhood (yes, it’s been that long!), but it’s a far cry from a magic show for the children. Riddled with tear-jerking moments that touch on all the profoundly challenging situations of adulthood, as well as uplifting moments we find ourselves in throughout our lives, which is likely to get the messy crying going and make things a little awkward with the person sitting next to you.
What you need to know
The show is in two separate parts, as there is just too much magic to cram into a mere 2 hours and 40 minutes. So if you want to get the full picture you’ll have to pay for each part, which will cost anything from $59 to $169, depending on the seat.
There is something called the “Friday Forty” where the best seats in the house are given at a discounted rate (you guessed it, $40, for both parts). You can enter this magical lottery at 12pm every Friday through TodayTix.com, winners are then announced later that day.
If your geekiness isn’t a-quivering yet, then here is a deep quote that will conjure up enthusiasm and possibly a tear (SPOILER ALERT – so worth it though)
Ready? Here’s an emotional Hermoine to give you one last chance…
“Perfection is beyond the reach of humankind, beyond the reach of magic. In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest with those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe.”
