San Francisco is full of avid runners, and it’s easy to see why. With numerous beautiful parks and trails perfect for running, and mild weather that makes it easy to get outside, it’s no wonder so many San Franciscans regularly run. This weekend, a unique footrace is returning to the city, and it’s not Bay to Breakers. The SKECHERS Hot Chocolate Run is back on January 11, 2025. The race has options for a 5k, 10k, and 15k, and after crossing the finish line, you’ll be rewarded with plenty of hot chocolate and a chocolate-filled after party.
The race is through Golden Gate Park, and ends with a post-race party that includes hot chocolate, chocolate fondue, and other treats. The 5k starts first, bright and early at 7:20 am, with the 10k and 15k at 8:10 am. Aside from the typical race registration, you can also sign up for the Ghirardelli Cocoa Club, which includes a gift bag stocked with chocolate, a $35 chocolate store credit, and an extra breakfast item after the race, among other perks.

The Hot Chocolate Run began in 2008 and has grown rapidly in popularity. The race is in cities all over the country, including Chicago, Denver, Seattle, San Diego, and many more. The festive run is a fun way to break up the winter blues, especially as runners are rewarded with cozy hot chocolate immediately after. Plus, it’s a great way to spend some time in Golden Gate Park. Luckily, the forecast for Sunday in San Francisco is partly sunny, so it’s the perfect day for a run. Of course, we recommend bringing some layers to stay warm during the run.
The SKECHERS Hot Chocolate Run is this Sunday, January 11, in San Francisco. You can find more information and register for the race here.
