Every year, San Francisco hosts a literary festival, featuring talks, readings, festive events, and more throughout the city. One of the festival’s popular events is the Lit Crawl, which is a one-night literary bar crawl. The crawl takes place throughout the Mission District, with stops at local bookshops, bars, and restaurants featuring unique programming for literary enthusiasts.
Lit Crawl 2026
On Saturday, October 24, the Mission District will host the annual Lit Crawl, a literary bar crawl with talks, readings, and more fun events. The bar crawl starts at 5 pm and runs until 9 pm, and will take place primarily on Valencia and Mission streets.
Some of the venues hosting events include Dog Eared Books, Curios, Ritual Coffee Roasters, Teeth Bar, and many more. Some events attendees can look forward to include immersive storytelling, live readings, talks from writers, and many other creative, unique events.
The evening culminates in an after-party at The Drawing Room Annex, offering plenty of drinks to celebrate the literary festival. Most events for the crawl are open on a first-come, first-served basis, although some do require pre-registration even though they are free. Take a look at the full schedule to see what events interest you before heading out.
The Mission is the perfect neighborhood for the literary crawl, with tons of bars and restaurants you can stop at in between, as well as events. You can learn more and see the full schedule for the crawl on the Litquake Festival website.
