San Francisco’s newest music festival made a splash when it launched in September 2022. The festival is organized by Golden Voice, which is responsible for other major festivals, including Coachella.
With the first year largely deemed a success featuring headliners Chemical Brothers, Flume, Fred Again, Charlie XCX Peggy Gou, and more, the festival made its mark as a new staple for EDM festivals.
Now, for its third year, the festival is back with another impressive lineup. Headliners for this year’s two-day music festival include Fisher, Rüfüs Du Sol, Jamie XX, Disclosure, M.I.A., Four Tet, Gesaffelstein, and Justice. The lineup includes plenty of crowd pleasers, and other acts include Franc Moody, Ben Böhmer, Anderson .Paak, Jessie Ware, and many more. Even singer Rebecca Black (we all remember her iconic single “Friday”) will take the stage at the festival.
Some of the acts have performed in San Francisco somewhat recently, including Four Tet, Fisher, and Frank Moody, but the lineup brings an impressive number of great acts to the festival. The return of M.I.A., who had to drop out of the debut festival in 2022, is sure to be a highlight.
The waterfront festival is scheduled for the last weekend in September, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29. General tickets will go on sale this Friday, May 17th, at 12 pm PST. The passes start at $239.95 plus fees for a single-day GA ticket. The festival is at Pier 80 in San Francisco’s Portola Neighborhood.
In years past, the festival had various stages, including some in large warehouses. The festival is only open to those 21 and older; a valid ID will be required for those attending. It’s also a cashless festival, with vendors accepting major credit cards. Unlike SF’s other major music festival, Outside Lands, Portola focuses on electronic and dance music, although you’ll find the lineup isn’t limiting. If you want to dance an entire weekend away under the SF sun, this is your chance.
Check out Portola’s website for more information about the lineup and tickets.
