Rainstorms and strong winds drenched the Bay Area this weekend, eventually letting up on Sunday afternoon… but not before San Franciscans were treated to a glorious rainbow.
If you were lucky enough to find yourself on the city’s northern waterfront around 4:45 PM Sunday, April 12th, you may have caught a glimpse of a remarkable rainbow stretching straight across the San Francisco Bay, right above the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
San Francisco-based photographer Prasanna Pilaka was one of many to post on social media about the rainbow. “This is the best rainbow I’ve ever seen!!” she wrote.
Redditors were also quick to post about the sighting on r/sanfrancisco. “The pot of gold is on the Bay Bridge,” wrote u/longdarkandstormy.

This week’s forecast in San Francisco
This weekend’s April showers may have dashed some plans, but NWS Bay Area assures us that the wet weather was a good sign.
“We’re fortunate to have seen this much rainfall as we shift farther into our dry season, will help fuels recover afer the March heat wave,” they wrote late last night.
Yesterday appears to have been the last of our rain until next weekend. This week’s forecast shows mostly sunny weather in the low 60s, rising to a high of 69°F on Friday.
Next Sunday, April 19th, we’re looking at a cloudy day with a 43% chance of rain, according to The Weather Channel.
