The San Francisco Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k are this weekend, on Sunday, February 1. The runners will primarily run through Golden Gate Park and the Panhandle, so disruptions to many neighborhoods in the city will be minimal, but you can still expect some road closures and changes to the Muni schedule.
The 5k will start at 7:50 am on JFK Promenade east of Blue Heron Lake Drive in Golden Gate Park. From there, the half marathon and 10k runners will start at 8:00 am, and all runners will finish in the Southeast corner of Golden Gate Park, with the half marathon and 10k runners ending at On Bernice Rodgers Way, near Martin Luther King Drive.
What neighborhoods are impacted?
Only a few SF neighborhoods will be impacted, including the Outer Sunset, Ocean View, Sea Cliff, Outer Richmond, Lakeshore, Golden Gate Park, and Parkside.
Street closures
Thankfully, street closures will be minimal, mostly occurring inside Golden Gate Park. Streets bordering the Panhandle will also be closed.
Muni service changes
The half marathon will impact the 18 46th Avenue, 33 Ashbury/18th St., 43 Masonic , and 44 O’Shaughnessy routes. Alternative stops have been added for the tours, so expect small detours and changes to accommodate the race. This may also cause delays, so we recommend leaving yourself extra time.
How long will the changes last?
The race will start early Sunday morning, and organizers anticipate the service changes to be over by 12 pm.
