Valentine’s Day is almost here, and there are many exciting things to do in San Francisco to celebrate the holiday. Recently, a new study has evaluated U.S. cities to determine which is the best for Valentine’s Day, and San Francisco took the top spot.
The study evaluated 100 cities in the United States across several key categories: budget, activities, gift accessibility, and weather forecast. Each category had several metrics, such as the average cost of a three-course meal, restaurants per capita, and florists per capita.
While San Francisco is known for being expensive, it ranked first in part because of its number of affordable restaurants. The city also has highly rated secondhand gift shops and florists, along with many attractions that make for great dates. SF is also highly walkable and has many card and chocolate shops.
Another California city, San Diego, ranked second due to its high number of wellness spas and abundance of jewelry stores and restaurants. Fremont, California, has the most affordable three-course restaurants, and unsurprisingly, New York had the most expensive three-course meals. New York also notably had the fewest jewelry stores per capita, but was tied for the most chocolate shops.
