Travel platform Skyscanner evaluated flight and hotel pricing to determine the most economical destinations for the 2026 World Cup, and the results placed the San Francisco Bay Area as the most affordable United States location, ranking third overall behind two Mexican venues.
Researchers analyzed the average cost of a one-way flight combined with a three-night hotel stay across all 16 host cities for June and July 2026.
Fans traveling to the Bay Area for the tournament will pay an average of $1,045 per person for their core travel expenses. A breakdown of the local data showed that one-way flights will average $170, while accommodations will cost $235 per night.
The analysis revealed that projected trip costs to the Bay Area rose by 6% for the tournament dates, which was the smallest price increase among all the selected locations. For attendees holding tickets for matches at Levi’s Stadium, the travel report noted that nearby San Jose and Santa Clara will serve as practical bases for lodging.
