10 Boozy Holiday Drinks To Sip Through The Season

‘Tis the season for hot toddies and Irish coffees.

San Francisco’s cocktail bars filling their menus with sugar, spice, and everything nice. Are you craving a warm, comforting drink to get you through December? Read on to discover our favorite holiday cocktails around the city!

1. It’s a Wonderful Flip, The Vault Garden

The Vault Garden has a lovely winter cocktail menu, with 8 different themed drinks! ‘It’s a Wonderful Flip’ (left) has white rum, coquito eggnog, allspice, and RumChata. Also pictured is ‘The Cachaca Who Stole Christmas,’ featuring Avua Plata Cachaca, mezcal, Calpico, guava, Dolin Blanc, lime, and absinthe rinse.

2. Irish Coffee, The Buena Vista

The Buena Vista has been perfecting their Irish coffee recipe since 1952. They now serve up to 2,000 Irish coffees a day. Variations include the Screwball Irish Coffee with peanut butter whiskey, Nutty Irishman Coffee with Frangelico and Bailey’s, and a Chocolate Coffee with Godiva Chocolate Liqueur.

3. Hot Buttered Rum, Smuggler’s Cove

This nautical-themed bar is totally eclectic, but made even more impressive with its award-winning rum selection, which boasts upwards of 1000 rums. The hot buttered rum comes with their house-made spice batter.

3. Hot Spiced Cider, Elixir

Hot apple juice with cinnamon, allspice and clove. Add your choice of spirit, they recommend Argonaut Saloon Strength Brandy! Other holiday drinks include Elixir eggnog with several variations, the Kentucky Pilgrim, the Golden Hot Toddy, or the Caribbean Egg Cream.

4. Krampus shots, Deck the Halls Bar

This pop-up bar is open in San Francisco! These Krampus shots literally list “fire” as one of the ingredients – the others are stout, egg, sherry, rum, and agave. Other drinks to consider include the Snow Globe with vodka and bubble rose water, and the Jolly Old Fashioned with whiskey, cranberry, and bitters.

5. Old Peculier Punch, Whitechapel

A delicious winter punch with brandy, scotch, fresh ginger root, fresh cranberries, maple syrup, lemon, lime, orange, and grapefruit, topped with grated nutmeg.

6. Whiskey Ginger Turmeric Toddy, The Snug


A hot toddy with a twist!  This toddy comes with whiskey, ginger, turmeric, spiced pear, lemon and honey.

7. Pumpkin Spice Sour, Macondray

Enjoy your favorite fall flavors while you still can! This pumpkin spice sour is to die for, but Macondray is also serving up hot mulled cider, hot toddies, and more.

8. The Irish Hate Root Beer, Casements

An Irish-approved rootbeer cocktail with Akashi Ume Plum Whiskey, Uncle Nearest Whiskey, Jelinek Fernet liqueur, acid phosphate, root beer and Guinness. Other drinks include a Belfast coffee with coldbrew and maple whipped cream, and a hot Paying our Dews coffee with Tullamore D.E.W, coffee and fresh cream.

9. Wishlist, Alchemist

A zesty cocktail with Sipsmith Lemon Drizzle Gin, Sipsmith Sloe Gin, Stone Pine Liqueur, frankincense and citrus. Alchemist has decked out their interior with plenty of glowing holiday lights!

10. Drink Up Grinches, Del Mar

This wild tropical is bringing holiday cocktails with a twist! The Drink Up Grinches is delicious with jalapeno-infused tequila, pomegranate, rosemary and lime juice. Other featured cocktails are the One Hot Cookie pineapple whipped vodka, chocolate liqueur, hot cocoa, Oreo cookies, and whipped cream; and the Too Hot to Toddy with bourbon or rum, apple cider, lemon and star anise.
