This weekend, San Franciscans can look forward to another beautiful full moon. The moon will be full on Sunday, February 1, and is aptly called the Snow Moon, a fitting name for the recent snowstorms across the country. While the full moon isn’t a supermoon like last month’s, it still promises to be a beautiful sight for San Franciscans.
Why is it called the Snow Moon?
While San Francisco doesn’t get any snow, this part of the winter is often marked by snowstorms in nearby mountains and across many states.
When is the February full moon?

The full moon will be on Sunday, February 1, at 2:09 pm in San Francisco, so be sure to check it out on Sunday evening.
Where can you see the full moon in San Francisco?
There are plenty of great stargazing spots in the city, and we recommend somewhere with a clear vantage point of the sky. Some of our favorite viewpoints include Twin Peaks, which has a beautiful viewpoint of the city, and is perfect for stargazing. Alamo Square Park and Corona Heights Park also offer beautiful views of the city from a high vantage point
What is the weather forecast for Sunday night?

While a full moon is always beautiful, San Franciscans know that the foggy weather SF is known for can obstruct the views. The forecast so far for Sunday night is mostly cloudy according to NWS, so there is still a chance of seeing the full moon between clouds. Of course, stay tuned for more updates because the forecast can always change as we get closer to Sunday night.
