Every year, the St. Francis Yacht Club hosts a charming parade of boats, decked out in their holiday best. The annual takes place on the SF waterfront, and while only members of the Yacht Club can participate, it’s a delightful show to watch from the waterfront. This year’s parade is scheduled for Friday, December 12, and typically starts at around 6 pm.
A procession of approximately two dozen illuminated boats will set sail from Pier 39 around 6 pm and cruise along the waterfront to Crissy Field. Once they reach Crissy Field, the lighted boats will turn around and sail back to Pier 39. The festive parade is a beloved tradition and a great way to enjoy holiday lights in a uniquely coastal way. The procession is at a leisurely pace, taking about 2-3 hours.

The best viewing spots for the parade are typically on Marina Green, Crissy Field, and Aquatic Park. If you want to watch from a distance, you can also see the parade from the Presidio Tunnel Tops, although the Crissy Field Beach will offer a closer look at the boats as they cruise by. We recommend bringing a picnic to watch the glowing boats for the evening. Just don’t forget some layers and a blanket to keep you warm. The event is organized by St. Francis Yacht Club, which began in 1929 as an offshoot of the San Francisco Yacht Club, which was started over 150 years ago in 1869.

If you miss the St. Francis lighted boat parade on Saturday, December 13, Sausalito will host its very own festive parade. The parade is visible from the Sausalito waterfront, starting at 6 pm and featuring a fireworks show at approximately 7:15 pm.
