San Francisco is well known for its parks, and summer makes it the perfect time to explore the city’s many scenic areas. SF Recreation and Parks, in collaboration with SF Children & Nature, recently created a map with family-friendly activities to highlight how children and families can best enjoy the city’s parks.
The map includes 35 nature destinations in the city, with educational information and possible activities for children. The map is available for pick up in person at select parks and SF Public Libraries. Families can also utilize the online map to plan their summer adventures.
“From climbing logs and exploring sandy shorelines to discovering wildlife and hidden trails, San Francisco’s parks offer endless opportunities for kids and families to connect with nature,” said San Francisco Rec and Park General Manager Sarah Madland. “This map is designed to spark curiosity, inspire adventure, and encourage young people to get outside this summer and discover the incredible outdoor spaces this City has to offer.”
Families can collect stickers at select sites, and if you collect three or more stickers, you can get a free ride on the LeRoy King Carousel. Locations on the map include Sunset Dunes, Presidio Tunnel Tops, and Ina Coolbrith Park.
