San Francisco is famous for its casual and widely-accepted cannabis use and renowned dispensaries. We’re also well known for our award-winning pizza restaurants. This writer never thought that the two would come together in such perfect harmony, but that day has finally arrived. As SFGATE reported, Tony’s Pizza Napoletana has partnered with North Beach Pipeline, the neighborhood’s first cannabis dispensary, to offer the “Up In Smoke” pizza and joint combo.
The packaging for this special combo was designed by celebrated SF illustrator Jeremy Fish. Fish, a North Beach fixture, designed the pizza box to serve as a “pizza bib.” After removing the perforated section of the box, it can be used to protect your clothing from any drips of sauce or toppings. It’s a practical design but also delightfully playful, especially alongside Fish’s illustrations.
This wildly creative promotion is, in part, an effort to entice customers to visit North Beach, a neighborhood that has struggled with sluggish tourism since the Covid-19 pandemic. It also serves as an impressive collaboration between some of the most creative minds, and biggest names, in the community.
“Tony’s Pizza Joint” is a one-gram pre-roll ($15) filled with Mother’s Milk cannabis and dipped in cannabis hash. It’s a tasty and potent mix that should ensure there won’t be any leftovers. The “Up in Smoke” pizza ($30) is wood-fired and topped with candied bacon, tomato, basil, smoked mozzarella, and umami spice. The $40 combo feels like a match made in stoner heaven.
Unfortunately, you won’t find the joint included in your pizza order. After all, Tony’s may have a liquor license but not one for cannabis. In order to take advantage of the deal you need to either bring your pre-roll package to Tony’s Pizza Napoletana or bring your pizza box to North Beach Pipeline to complete the combo and enjoy $5 off the set.
Tony’s Pizza Napoletana is located at 1570 Stockton Street and North Beach Pipeline Dispensary is at 1335 Grant Avenue in San Francisco.
