This is takeout on a whole new level.
The Shotais a popular Japanese restaurant in the financial district that prepares delicious sushi dishes and more. They specialize in Edomae-style omakase sushi and Kaiseki-inspired dishes, using high-quality seafood flown from the Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo.
The Shota chefs really leaned in to the pandemic take-out food scene, adapting their menu to be portable through these adorable bento boxes. They call this concept YUBU, for which they recently made the SF Chronicle’s list of the top 25 restaurants in the Bay Area. These beautiful bento boxes are inspired by the ones chef Ingi Son once enjoyed as a child.
One of the most popular orders is the Takara “Treasure Box,” which includes sea urchin, negi toro, fresh water eel, and house-marinated salmon roe atop a bed of sushi rice. All donburi options come with toasted seaweed sheets and red miso soup.
Another delicious option is the Yubu Inari Set, which features 4 types of inari sushi: lean fatty tuna, crab with tobiko, crispy shrimp, and mushroom.
If that weren’t enough, you can also choose from a variety of sake to go including Shibata “Black” Junmai Ginjo, Kaze no Mori “Wind of the Woods,” and more. Not to mention various beer and wine options.
