The San Francisco Symphony regularly hosts popular film screenings, playing the movie’s score live. The screenings are always popular at the symphony, and they often feature seasonal offerings. This winter, the symphony will screen several festive holiday movies, perfect for a night out.
The winter movie screenings will start with the romantic comedy classic The Holiday, on December 10 and 11. The film is well known for its cast of major actors, including Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Black Jack, and Kate Winslet, to name a few. It also has a whimsical, hopeful score, making it the perfect candidate for the symphony’s live rendition. Next, you can see the animated hit Frozen on December 13. The movie is family-friendly and well-known for its many songs, including “Let it Go,” which was a major commercial success and even reached the Billboard Top 100.

Finally, the symphony’s last holiday movie screening of the year is the iconic classic Home Alone. The movie is a holiday classic since it first premiered over 30 years ago, and is well known for its comedy and heartwarming story. The film will have two screenings at the symphony on December 19 and 20. The movie is family-friendly, and kids’ tickets are half off for the show.
The San Francisco Symphony also has many other exciting holiday events on the calendar, starting with the festive A Merry-Achi Christmas featuring the Mariachi Sol de México on November 30. Other concerts in December include Deck the Halls on December 7, Peabo Bryson and Friends: Home for the Holidays, on December 16, and even a Charlie Brown Christmas performance on December 21 and 22.
