The modern art museum will occasionally host free community days, inviting people to explore the many galleries for free. The next community day is this weekend, on Sunday, May 24, and it’s the perfect opportunity to see the newly opened exhibition, Matisse’s Femme au chapeau: A Modern Scandal. Aside from the new temporary exhibition, we recommend exploring the recently reimagined Fisher Collection. The Fisher Collection is expansive, and almost 250 works are included in the current presentation.

Free gallery space at SFMOMA
While free admission days only occur sporadically, the art museum boasts free gallery space all year. SFMOMA offers 45,000 square feet that is always open to the public, featuring some large-scale art installations, including massive murals and moving sculptures.
