San Francisco International Airport (SFO) was recently named the “Best Airport in North America” by Airports Council International (ACI).
SFO received the honor in the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards, recognizing the best customer experience. The ranking is based on survey data collected throughout 2022.
This recognition is the second such award for SFO in recent months. The Wall Street Journal named SFO the top large U.S. airport for 2022, which they published in November. Ranking criteria include on-time performance, security checkpoint line waits, and customer satisfaction scores from J.D. Power.
ASQ findings are based on surveys gathered at the airport, directly from passengers, on their day of travel.
“San Francisco is a world-class destination that welcomes millions of visitors from around the world every year, and this award speaks to the highest quality of service and experience offered at SFO,” commented SF Mayor London Breed. “Creating a welcoming environment for San Franciscans, the Bay Area, and travelers from around the world is vital to our economic recovery, and our airport has truly made a lasting, positive impression with customers.”
The surveys cover over 30 performance indicators across key elements of the passenger’s airport experience, including signage and wayfinding, check-in, and shopping and dining.
ACI also recognized Dallas Fort Worth International Airport with the prestigious title. Both airports fall in the “over 40 million passengers per year” category.
