Simone Caporale, a bartender and co-founder of the “the world’s best bar” in Barcelona, is setting up shop in San Francisco. The world-renowned bartender is partnering with Michelin-star chef Ho Chee Boon. The collaboration will take place at Empress by Boon, a beautiful restaurant known for its seasonal Cantonese menu, featuring delectable classics elevated to create elegant prix fixe menus. To complete the experience, diners are treated to an iconic SF view of Coit Tower.
The collaboration between Caporale and Boon is only for a limited time, starting this Wednesday, January 22. The pop-up lasts three days, ending on Friday, January 24. The collaboration offers a unique experience each day. Starting off with a cocktail reception at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, priced at $125 per person.
Then, on Thursday, guests are treated to a multi-course dinner by Chef Boon accompanied by a cocktail paring by Caporale. The dinner is available from 5 to 9 pm for $225 per person. Finally, the residency ends with a splash on Friday, with a cocktail-making class followed by a cocktail-paired dinner. The menus are intended to explore “themes of innovation and experimentation” throughout the three-day event.
Simone Caporale is well known for his award-winning Barcelona bar, SIPS, which was named the world’s best bar in 2023. The now famous bar still maintains a high ranking on the 50 Best list, sitting at #3 for 2024. Before SIPS, Caporale spent five years at Artesian at The Langham, a hotel bar that was named the best bar in the world for four consecutive years. Caporale co-founded SIPS with Marc Alvarez in 2020.
Space is limited for each event, so we recommend making a reservation in advance. Empress by Boon is also offering a special Lunar New Year Celebration on January 28, just a few days after the collaboration. Plus, Chef Boon recently opened Blue Whale in Cow Hollow, offering more affordable options to try his famous food.
