Baseball season has reached its end and we’re now looking ahead to 49ers football at Levi’s Stadium and the kick-off to Warriors basketball preseason at Chase Center. Down in San Jose, hockey season is just beginning for the Sharks while soccer season is coming to its end for the Earthquakes.

Games to catch this October 2023 in the Bay Area
1. Football: San Francisco 49ers
The SF 49ers were the first major league sports team in San Francisco, having originated at Golden Gate Park’s Kezar Stadium in 1946. The team has won 5 Super Bowl titles and 7 NFC championships to date.
In 2014 the team moved to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, which has been announced as the 2026 venue for Super Bowl 60 and FIFA World Cup matches. You can find it at 4900 Marie P DeBartolo Way in Santa Clara.

2. Basketball: Golden State Warriors
7-time NBA champions the Golden State Warriors enjoy a special amount of local pride considering their latest NBA championship win in 2022. The team began in Philadelphia in 1946, became the San Francisco Warriors in 1962, and later the Golden State Warriors in 1971. The Warriors played in Oakland at Oracle Arena until 2019, when they relocated to Chase Center in San Francisco.
Chase Center is a state-of-the-art indoor waterfront arena at 1 Warriors Way in SF’s Mission Bay neighborhood. The community gathering space around the arena is known as Thrive City and often hosts fun events, live music, and cinema nights.

3. Hockey: San Jose Sharks
The San Jose Sharks are the the Bay Area’s home major league hockey team dating back to 1991, although their origins go back to the 1967 NHL expansion. The Sharks originally played at Cow Palace in Daly City before relocating to the SAP Center at San Jose. The team is known for their badass entrance from a 17-foot shark mouth.
The SAP Center, locally known as the Shark Tank, is located at 525 W Santa Clara St in San Jose.

4. Soccer: San Jose Earthquakes
The San Jose Earthquakes began in 1996 as one of Major League Soccer’s 10 charter members, originally named “The Clash.” They played in the first game in MLS history, beating D.C. United 1-0.
The Earthquakes play at PayPal Park in San Jose, located at 1123 Coleman Ave next to San Jose International Airport. PayPal Park offers excellent visibility due to having the steepest seat rise of any soccer stadium in the country. The stadium also boasts the largest outdoor bar in North America.

5. Baseball: San Francisco Giants
The SF Giants are our very own MLB team playing at Oracle Park in San Francisco. Since 1883 the Giants have won 8 World Series titles and 23 National League Pennants, making them one of the country’s oldest and most successful professional baseball teams. The team originated in New York before moving to San Francisco in 1957 and playing in the famous Candlestick Park from 1960-1999.
See an SF Giants home game at Oracle Park, which is located on the eastern waterfront of San Francisco at 24 Willie Mays Plaza in the SoMa neighborhood. It’s a beautiful waterside park with views of the SF Bay and you can take a behind-the-scenes tour to learn about the ballpark’s design and history.

6. Baseball: Oakland Athletics
The Oakland A’s are the other MLB team located in the Bay Area with home base at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. They originated in Philadelphia in 1901 and eventually moved to Oakland in 1968, playing at the same stadium ever since.
Locals usually refer to the ballpark as “Oakland Coliseum” or simply “The Coliseum,” but it has undergone numerous name changes in the past including “Ring Central Coliseum” until April 2023. You can find it at 7000 S Coliseum Way in Oakland right off of the I-880 freeway.
Regular season baseball usually runs from April to October.
