Alysa Liu, an Oakland figure skater, just won gold at the Olympics. At only 20 years old, Liu just completed her second Olympics and walked away an Olympic Champion. Of course, the Bay Area couldn’t be prouder of the skater, who trained at the Oakland Ice Center and has proudly represented the Bay Area throughout her skating career.
Liu’s gold-winning performance at the Olympics was noted for its joy and dance elements. Her return to the Olympics was highly anticipated after she announced her retirement from the sport in spring 2022, having attended the Olympics at just 16 years old. After two years, she officially returned to the sport and has since won gold at the 2025 World Figure Skating Championships and the 2026 Olympics

If you’re like us and can’t wait to see more performances from Liu, you’re in luck. On May 17, you can see Liu skate in San Jose during Stars on Ice. Aside from Liu, you can also expect to see other major figure skaters, including Olympians Ilia Malinin, Isabeau Levito, and Amber Glenn.
Stars on Ice is a touring figure skating show that features elite skaters and is a theatrical production rather than a competition. It’s a great opportunity to see world-class athletes perform live, and it’s right in the Bay Area. The 2026 tour starts on April 16 and will conclude on May 31. Other cities on the schedule include Anaheim, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, and many more.
