Stern Grove Festival, a FREE outdoor concert series featuring a wide variety of genres, has pulled out all the stops for an incredible lineup of performances all summer long. This Sunday (August 14) is the Big Picnic featuring Phil Lesh & Friends, Midnight North, and DJs Walkin’ Love and AreWeNotDead of Freak Flag Radio.
As the festival’s primary fundraising event of the year, The Big Picnic is always an unforgettable afternoon. Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh will keep the party going after Jerry Day celebrations from the day before. If you managed to snag tickets already, you’re in for a great time.
If you didn’t manage to snag tickets, keep an eye on the Stern Grove website as they often do last-minute ticket promotions – usually at 2pm on Fridays as a Flash Friday promotion.
After Stern Grove suffered extensive water damage last summer, the festival was forced to cancel its grand finale event. Renovations are still not 100% complete, but the venue has been approved for in-person use and you better believe they’ll be back in style! After 8 decades at this legendary venue space, Stern Grove concerts are the stuff of legends.
Stern Grove Festival has hosted free summer concerts for over 85 years. Headliners have included everyone from Grammy winners to rising stars, including names like Mitski, The Doobie Brothers, Carlos Santana, Pink Martini, Janelle Monae, and more.
“We are thrilled to be able to present our 85th season this summer, especially after overcoming another set of challenges with the aftermath of the flood last summer. Bringing live music back to the Grove provides our community the opportunity to gather and enjoy our free concerts, and we are grateful to be able to fulfill our mission to do just that,” said Executive Director Bob Fiedler.
Sigmund Stern Recreation Grove, known to locals as Stern Grove, is located at 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard in Pine Lake Park.
