This weekend, a unique winter market will take over an iconic San Francisco building. Known for its appearance as the home of Anne Hathaway’s character Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries, the firehouse-turned private residence is opening its doors for the market this weekend.
The market will feature over 30 local vendors, selling unique goods that make perfect holiday gifts (or just a treat for yourself). You can also expect a Princess Diaries-themed photo booth along with food vendors. Plus, you can bring a t-shirt or a tote bag for a costume screen printing station. For major Princess Diaries fans, you can purchase a goodie bag with themed artwork for $15.
The market is free and family-friendly, and will run from 11 am to 4 pm on Saturday, December 6. Organizers recommend taking public transportation or rideshare to the market, as there is limited parking in the area, and they urge shoppers not to block nearby driveways.

The former firehouse, which became famous for its role in the iconic movie based in SF, was originally a working firehouse that was eventually closed and turned into a private residence. Today, the building is fittingly an art studio, Engine 43 Art Studio, on the first floor, and a private residence upstairs. The winter market offers a rare glimpse inside the firehouse, and you can explore local creators’ work while fulfilling some childhood nostalgia.
San Francisco has numerous exciting craft markets and fairs in the coming weeks, and it’s a great way to support local artists and creators during the holidays (while scoring some cool gifts). Check out our list of holiday markets here for more.
The market is located at 724 Brazil Avenue in San Francisco and will run from 11 am to 4 pm on December 6. Entry is free, but you can RSVP in advance or purchase a themed goodie bag. You can learn more about the market here.
