1. The exhibition uses state-of-the-art technology to achieve the ultimate augmented reality experience
Art and technology come together for an unparalleled look at the expanding world of NFTs! Watch the artworks come to life around you with the Microsoft Hololens 2, a powerful mixed-reality headset.
The headset has sensors to track the movement of your head, eyes, and hands, which means that you can interact with and experience the artworks as if they were physical objects. Although you can see other people around you, each guest will experience their own digital reality overlaying the gallery space – much like a silent disco but for holograms. The exhibition also includes spaces to see the artworks through a smartphone or tablet.
2. See holograms and artworks from top-selling artists
NFTs, or Non-Fungible Tokens, can be sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars in this growing digital marketplace. This exhibition gives you the chance to see dozens of works from the industry’s top-selling artists, such as the famous comical apes from the Bored Ape Yacht Club. Celebrities including Steph Curry and Post Malone have been known to pay six figures for a piece from their highly-coveted collection.
Additional pieces include a psychedelic Avatree whose proceeds go towards carbon sequestration projects, the dynamic shifting Electro Forest by Android Jones, and an ethereal fluttering Morpho butterfly that appears to send ripples through the air… just to name a few.
3. Learn all about the metaverse and the burgeoning world of NFTs
Still wondering exactly what NFTs are and why they’re so important to our ever-changing world? Verse: Art of the Future will help guests to understand the ins and outs of this massively popular art form. In short, NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) are digital assets that cannot be replicated, and are bought and sold using cryptocurrency.
The NFT space gives digital creators an opportunity to sell their work in a growing market, allowing artists to profit directly every time their pieces sell or change hands. “Verse” is a nod to the metaverse, a digital three-dimensional world where people can experience and interact with these digital assets much as they would in real life. San Francisco’s exhibition gives you a peek into the future with helpful narration and signage to teach you about this cutting-edge industry.
4. Explore SF’s Palace of Fine Arts while you’re at it
Verse: Art of the Future has just been relocated to the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco after several successful months at the SF Mint. The new exhibition space gives visitors a chance to enjoy the futuristic galleries in a legendary local landmark dating back over a century.
The Palace of Fine Arts was built as a temporary exhibition space for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, which gave the city a chance to celebrate the construction of the Panama Canal as well as SF’s recovery from the 1906 earthquake. Artworks and pieces on display included the Southern Pacific Railroad’s first steam locomotive, the Liberty Bell on loan from Philadelphia, and the 435-foot-tall Tower of Jewels, which was adorned with thousands of sparkling glass gems. Think back on this storied history while exploring the art of the future!
5. Catch the exhibition before it moves to another city
You’ll want to make sure you see Verse: Art of the Future now in San Francisco before it continues on its tour! The holographic art gallery is on display now only in SF and Denver for its inaugural shows, but it will soon move to other cities including Los Angeles, Dallas, Seattle, New York, and Miami. Lucky for us, the exhibition just added new dates all the way through the end of December 2022–so there’s still time to see it for yourself before it’s gone.
Verse: Art of the Future is on display in San Francisco through the rest of 2022. Come see it now at the Palace of Fine Arts and get to the bottom of why the flourishing world of NFTs is so important to the future of artistic expression.
