A national cellphone outage hit early this morning, and many users across different providers have reported problems with their connection. If you noticed you weren’t able to call or text this morning, you weren’t alone. People across the nation have reported outages, including in LA, NYC, Dallas, and many more.
San Francisco doesn’t seem to be suffering from the worst outages, at least as reported on Down Detector, but many people are still reporting their network is down in the Bay Area. AT&T has reported that they have restored service to all affected users as of 11:10 am California time. In a statement, AT&T stated: “Keeping our customers connected remains our top priority, and we are taking steps to ensure our customers do not experience this again in the future.”
Another major provider, Verizon, issued a statement that their network remained “fully operational,” but users may have had issues when trying to contact someone on a different network.
For current updates or to report an outage, you can check DownDetector for a comprehensive map across networks.
At&T users can find more information on outages at their website. If you’re a Verizon user, you can check their network status page for information as well.
It is still unknown what the cause of the outage was, although many users are undoubtedly relieved to have service back after multiple hours of outages.
