The Fairmont San Francisco is well known for its beautiful architecture and sweeping views from its perch on Nob Hill. Originally built in 1907, the historic hotel has become an iconic building in San Francisco. This weekend, the exterior of the hotel will look a little different, adorned with aerial dancers performing on the side of the building.
The Fairmont San Francisco has announced a new artist-in-residence program with BANDALOOP, a vertical dance company based in the Bay Area. The company will bring a public performance to the hotel this weekend, featuring a vertical rooftop wall performance. You can see the show this Saturday, on June 28, at 4:00 pm. The performance will fittingly be Pride themed, as San Francisco’s major Pride parade and celebration are scheduled for later in the weekend.
Organizers advise that the best viewpoint will be from the hotel’s rooftop garden and encourage attendees to arrive at 3:45 pm to ensure they see the entire show. The performance is free and open to not only guests at the hotel but also any local San Franciscans.
“BANDALOOP is a part of the dynamic fabric of Bay Area world-class artistry, they are the premier vertical dance company having performed in over 50 countries. Said Markus Treppenhauer, General Manager at Fairmont San Francisco, “and we are delighted to partner with their vertical feat on our majestic architecture, the Fairmont San Francisco.”
This weekend’s performance is the first in an ongoing partnership, with Fairmont San Francisco planning to collaborate further with the dance company with more performances throughout the year.BANDALOOP is a vertical dance company based in Oakland that has been performing worldwide for over 30 years. The company was initially founded in 1991 by Amelia Rudolph and has since grown to perform in hundreds of cities. The Fairmont has presented public art programming in the past, with a popular gingerbread house display every winter, and recently live jazz music in the lobby on Friday evenings.
