While San Francisco is finally enjoying some warm weather, fall is quickly approaching. While San Francisco doesn’t see much fall foliage, if you venture outside of the city just 30 minutes, you can find a beautiful estate that celebrates fall in style, with themed events, tea, and more.
Filoli is a historic estate and garden that is open to the public throughout the year, and its seasonal events are always worth a visit. The estate will be covered in fall leaves throughout the gardens. You can also attend fall tea parties from September 22-26 and October 6-10. The themed tea parties are 90 minutes long and held in the scenic garden house. From October 3 to November 2, the estate will host a family-friendly Witches Tea for children and their parents in the grand ballroom.

Filoli will also host two Taste of Fall events on October 18 and 19. The event will include local vendors selling seasonal treats like cider, pies, and even caramel apples. Filoli’s horticulturists will share information about Filoli’s beautiful orchard and their own products. For those looking to embrace their creative side, you can check out wreath-making parties on October 23 and 24. The workshop will guide you through creating a seasonal wreath with greens and dried flowers.

Finally, the estate is fully embracing the Halloween spirit with its event, Night Fall. After dark, the estate will transform into a spooky Halloween event, with a pumpkin-filled meadow, live music, festive games, and more. The house will also be fully decked out in Halloween decor, and costumes are encouraged. You can also stop by the whimsical Thomas Dambo troll sculptures throughout the property. Night Fall will run from October 3 through November 10.
