Community space in Hayes Valley
PROXY is located right on the corner of Hayes and Octavia Street in Hayes Valley, and it started as a project to transform formerly vacant lots into a community space. The open area regularly hosts pop-up businesses throughout the year and free events, like the popular movie series. The space also hosts the annual Hayes Valley Carnival, which is one of the biggest events for the neighborhood.
Vendors in the space include an outdoor gym, Juice Shop, Ritual Coffee Roasters, Biergarten serving German Beer, and several retail vendors.
This summer, San Franciscans can look forward to more outdoor movie screenings in SF parks, as Sundown Cinema returns for 2026. The popular free outdoor movie series will return on June 12 in Dolores Park with a screening of The Princess Bride. For now, be sure to mark your calendar for the next movie at PROXY in Hayes Valley.
