It’s happening!! One of the Bay Area’s most popular wildflower spots is putting on quite the show just down the coast. Flower heads are currently flocking to Pacifica to see a breathtaking, bright yellow super bloom at Mori Point. If past years are any indication, we’re likely to enjoy it through May.
Recent posts on Instagram and TikTok show enormous golden wildflower fields, which contrast brilliantly with the Bay Area’s characteristic foggy skies and dramatic rocky ocean cliffs. The flower fields consist mostly of California goldfields, yellow-and-white coastal tidytips, and fluorescent orange California poppies.
How long does it take to hike Mori Point?
The best way to see the Mori Point super bloom is by taking the Mori Point Trail, a 1.8-mile, out-and-back path that will take you straight to the main viewpoint. It takes about 40 minutes.
Where can you park at Mori Point?
You can park on Mori Point Road or Bradford Way, but be warned that parking is hard to find during wildflower season.
Does Mori Point have a beach?
Yes, there are trails connecting the bluffs to Sharp Park Beach, one of California’s only black sand beaches.
Are dogs allowed at Mori Point?
Yes, but they must be on a leash.
Is Devil’s Slide near Mori Point?
Yes, the famous Devil’s Slide in Pacifica is about a five-minute drive down the coast from Mori Point. The decommissioned highway is now a pedestrian- and bike-friendly trail with beautiful cliff views.
Where else can I see super blooms and wildflowers in the Bay Area?
After experiencing a big rains this winter, the Bay Area is likely to see plenty of wildflower blooms along its most popular hiking trails. Some nearby locations to seek out include the beach dunes along San Francisco’s Crissy Field, Half Moon Bay State Beach, and San Rafael’s China Camp State Park.
