This weekend, Outside Lands is set to take over Golden Gate Park for three days, with a massive 75,000 attendees expected. The influx of people heading to the park can cause some traffic, making public transit a popular option for festival attendees.
Free Muni fare
Outside Lands attendees’ wristbands give them free Muni fare all day. This means you can simply hop on the Muni, and there is no need to tap your card. If you are asked to present your proof of payment, you can show your festival wristband. The free Muni fare does not include any cable cars, and no refunds will be offered if you accidentally tap your Clipper Card. The included fare only applies to the day you are attending the festival.
Expanded Muni service
Muni is also offering expanded service to accommodate the large influx of people for the festival. The extra service will apply to N Judah and 5R Fulton Rapid, and each night of the festival, Muni will provide 5X Fulton Express, which will travel from the festival to Civic Center BART Station. The extra service will be in addition to regularly scheduled trains and buses.
San Franciscans can expect several routes to be especially busy during the festival, including the 7 Haight/Noriega, 28 19th Avenue, 29 Sunset, and 44 O’Shaughnessy. Routes are particularly crowded after the last set of the night, which ends at 10 pm.
Another option to get to the festival is purchasing a shuttle pass, which will take attendees to and from the festival grounds to the Civic Center.
