The legendary Stern Grove Festival kicks off in San Francisco this Sunday, ringing in a summer of free open-air concerts in a historic urban park on Sloat Boulevard. The series has been around since 1938, making it the longest-running free nonprofit music festival in the country.
While the competitive ticket lottery has already closed for about half of the concerts, there are a few other ways to snag tickets.

Getting tickets to Stern Grove Festival 2026
Each concert has its own ticket lottery system, which opens 6 weeks before each show at 10am and lasts for 1 week. Many guests also opt to pay to reserve a table, although most are already sold out.
That leaves one more trick to try and snag free tickets to Stern Grove: the in-person community box offices, which pop up at locations around the city 8 days before each concert.
