Tucked away between buildings near Alamo Square is a community space dedicated to personal, spiritual, and social growth. The space features a tea house with an extensive selection and two inviting rooms where guests are free to socialize, work, or just enjoy the space. The Center SF aims to foster positive transformation through tea, movement, art, and community. The space is entirely volunteer-run, reflecting that it is truly a labor of love.
The Tea Room is cozy and filled with natural light. Eclectic but comfortable furniture fills the space; red couches and chairs combined with floor cushions and wood tables are spattered throughout the room. The area is shoe-free, with small cubbies placed outside the entrance.
The main room includes a tea bar and more seating for guests. Pots of tea are available for $13, or you can choose from a drink menu offering Kombucha, Matcha Latte, and more. A charming outdoor courtyard tucked away from the street sits below the former church’s large window with a spattering of patio tables.
Community Events
A major part of The Center is its yoga studio, which offers various classes. The bright, peaceful Bamboo Room hosts Vinyasa Yoga, Power Yoga, sound baths, meditation, and more. Classes are available in packs or $25 for a single class.
The Center’s events are not just limited to yoga. An open mic night, astrology workshop, and acrobatic foundations are all upcoming events. If you have an event you think would be a good fit for The Center, you can submit a proposal to host a public event.
The Center SF is truly a welcoming community space, whether you want to drop in for a cup of tea with a friend, dip your toes into their various events and workshops, or volunteer in the space. The Center SF is located at 548 Fillmore Street; hours may vary.
