San Francisco restaurants regularly receive awards and land on prestigious lists. Now, two well-loved restaurants have yet again been mentioned among the best in the country. The New York Times recently released a list of their top 50 restaurants in the country, and SF’s Quince and Four Kings were featured.
The SF restaurants were among 5 California restaurants to make the cut. Quince is not new to prestigious recognition, with three MICHELIN Stars on its resume. Four Kings has made a splash since opening earlier this year, and it looks like it’s here to stay.
Quince
The three MICHELIN Star restaurant opened just over 20 years ago and has since become a staple in the SF fine dining scene. The restaurant is known for its seasonal menu sourced from local produce. The restaurant’s Gastronomy option is a ten-course event featuring their modern, elegant plates. On Thursdays and Fridays, patrons can select from a four-course menu for lunch, while the salon and bar offer a more relaxed dining environment with an a la carte menu or a four-course menu option.
Four Kings
The new Cantonese restaurant is nestled right in Chinatown and has quickly become a favorite of San Franciscans. The restaurant initially started as a roving pop-up before finding its permanent home, a cozy restaurant featuring vintage decor that references iconic pop culture moments. The mouthwatering menu features small bites like Hot Mustard Jellyfish Salad, a selection of grilled and fried options, and an array of rice and noodles. Black Pepper steak and Fried Squab are other standouts on the menu.
An Alameda restaurant and two LA eateries were also on the list. Fikscue serves a halal Texas barbecue with a blend of Indonesian dishes. If you can’t make it out to Alameda to try to craft barbecue, you can get a taste right in SF at Thrive City.
