Summer in San Francisco is filled with music, especially free shows such as Stern Grove Festival, the Summer of Music, and now an EDM dance party. Another Planet Entertainment and DirtyBird Records are set to host a free EDM concert at San Francisco’s Embarcadero this weekend. The show, Dirtybird: Back to Baysics, is scheduled for Sunday, July 21st, from 2 to 6 p.m. It will be in Embarcadero Plaza, an iconic SF venue featuring waterfront views.
The show’s headliner, DJ Sacha Robotti, has decades of DJing under his belt, playing major festivals, including Coachella and EDC. The DJ will perform in San Diego prior to his SF show, then head to Denver next week. Openers Deron Delgado and Moody Jones are scheduled for the event, with two other surprise acts that have yet to be released. Doors open for the show at 2:00 pm, and it is open to all ages. You can also check out some of the great vendors and restaurants in the area, specifically in the Ferry Building, before the show.
The show is presented by Another Planet Entertainment, several weeks after their massively successful Fred again… and Skrillex rave at Civic Center Plaza. While 25,000 people clamored to get tickets for the last event, priced at roughly $80, this show is entirely free. Similarly to the last massive rave, Back to Baysics was announced with less than a week’s notice, making it an exciting surprise show for San Franciscans.
APE agreed to hold free concerts in downtown SF in order to secure the permits to host additional music festivals in Golden Gate Park the weekend following Outside Lands. The agreement came as SF hopes to enliven downtown with more events.
APE partnered with Dirtybird Records, a San Francisco-based label known for a specific type of EDM called tech-fun. Another Planet Entertainment is based in Berkley and organizes SF’s iconic Outside Lands music festival.
