The free concerts continue in San Francisco as Another Planet Entertainment announces a Portugal. The Man show is at the heart of SF.
Civic Center Plaza will host the free concert, just a few months after the massive Fred again… and Skrillex rave that drew 25,000 people to the location. The show is scheduled for Friday, September 20, following APE’s successful first free concert at the Embarcadero earlier this summer.
Headlined by Grammy-winning rock band Portugal. The Man, the show is free to the public and welcomes all ages. You can reserve a free ticket online ahead of the performance in September. Portugal. The Man was formed in 2004, has released nine albums, and won a coveted Grammy for their hit song Feel It Still.
Portugal. The Man is not currently touring, so this is a rare opportunity to see the band live right in San Francisco. Plus, following the success of the surprise rave at the Civic Center Plaza earlier this summer, it’s exciting another show will be taking over the unique outdoor venue.
Another Planet Entertainment is known for operating several music venues throughout the Bay Area, including the Greek Theater in Berkely and Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, along with one of the city’s most popular music festivals, Outside Lands. The concert is part of APE’s agreement to host free concerts in Downtown San Francisco. The entertainment company agreed to host the free concerts in order to host a second music festival in Golden Gate Park, which follows Outside Lands.
In July, a free EDM show took over the Embarcadero, featuring a partnership with SF-based label Dirtybird Records. The show was headlined by DJ Sacha Robotti, a well-known DJ who has played at major festivals across the globe.
You can catch Portugal. The Man on Friday, September 20 at 7:00 pm in the Civic Center Plaza. Tickets are free, but make sure to RSVP in advance.
