There’s a new trail in town! The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy just launched the Golden Gate Dozen Trail, a 13-mile route that strings together 12 national park sites across San Francisco.
As of July 1st, AllTrails offers the new trail as a single continuous hike or bike ride from Crissy Field on the northeastern waterfront all the way to Fort Funston on the Pacific coast.
The trail passes through some of the most historically layered and visually distinct corners of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA): Presidio Tunnel Tops, Fort Point, Baker Beach, China Beach, Lands End, the ruins of Sutro Baths, Ocean Beach, and more.
How to access the Golden Gate Dozen
The full route is now listed on AllTrails through a new partnership between the Parks Conservancy and AllTrails’ Public Lands Program.
Turn-by-turn directions for both hikers and cyclists are available on the Parks Conservancy’s website, and accessible options are also included for visitors with mobility considerations.
1 trail, 12 national park sites
The route is designed to move visitors through some of the best parts of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which is the second-most-visited national park in the country.
Visitors can hike or bike through a range of distinct landscapes and historical eras, including a dozen national park sites in sequence:
- Crissy Field
- Presidio Tunnel Tops
- Fort Point
- Golden Gate Bridge
- Baker Beach
- The Presidio
- China Beach
- Lands End
- Sutro Baths
- Sutro Heights
- Ocean Beach
- Fort Funston
The trail also comes with an adorable donut-shaped mascot, meant to symbolize sharing a “dozen” with others. Visitors can collect stickers featuring the mascot at the Presidio Visitor Center, the Warming Hut, and the Lands End Lookout.
