The beloved, 2-day North Beach festival is returning this weekend, June 20-21, with food, live music, and even acrobats. Here’s what to know about the free street festival.
SF’s North Beach Festival 2026
Every year, North Beach celebrates the beginning of summer with a lively, two-day street festival. The celebration closes several streets to car traffic, filling them with local vendors and pedestrians. This year is the 70th anniversary of the historic event, and San Franciscans can expect a weekend filled with local vendors, live performances, and great food.
Over 200 vendors will cover 11 blocks, selling vintage clothing, jewelry, home decor, and more. The festival has expanded from previous years, adding two extra blocks. You can explore outdoor bars and popular restaurants, like Original Joe’s and Tony’s Pizza.
One of the highlights of the festival is the many live performances, including local musicians, poetry readings, and even Club Fugazi acrobats. One of the most adorable traditions of the festival is the Blessing of Animals, where owners can bring their pets for a special ceremony.
Attendees can also embrace their creative side with interactive art activities like live painting and jewelry making. Finally, the festival is family-friendly, with a kids’ area with Legos, chalk, bubbles, and more.
What to do in North Beach
North Beach Festival is a wonderful opportunity to explore the neighborhood, which is known for many iconic and historic businesses. We recommend heading to City Lights Books, checking out the upstairs poetry room, or grabbing a drink at Vesuvio next door. The neighborhood is also home to several staple restaurants, notably Tony’s Pizza and Original Joe’s. Tony’s is popular on any day, so expect to have to wait for a table during the festival, or you can grab a slice from their to-go counter.
The festival will be on June 20 and 21, between 11 am and 7 pm both days. We recommend taking public transit, as parking will be especially limited due to the influx of people and closed streets.
