This week is filled with exciting events to celebrate Pride. If that wasn’t enough excitement, the World Cup is in full swing. One free event will double as an exciting Pride celebration and a World Cup watch party this Thursday in Downtown San Francisco. Keep reading for all the details.
Pride Block Party and World Cup screenings
This Thursday, Jesse Square in Yerba Buena is hosting an exciting free party that celebrates Pride and the World Cup. The event will screen two World Cup games, with Japan versus Sweden at 4 pm and USA versus Turkey at 7 pm.
Along with World Cup matches on the big screen, the party will include drag performances, DJs, and even soccer trivia. The drag show will feature Cassie Brown, They Themma, and San Francisco Drag Laureate, Persia.
The event takes place in the Yerba Buena entertainment zone, which means you can enjoy to-go cocktails within the designated area. The party starts at 3 pm and will run until 9 pm, when the USA versus Turkey game is expected to end.
We also recommend checking out some of the shops and restaurants in the area during the event. Plus, you can explore the nearby Yerba Buena Gardens before the free party.
The celebration is just one of many for Pride this weekend. Another exciting free event is a free concert and drag show at the Golden Gate Bandshell, called the Queer Country Hoedown. Plus, you can see a free drag show in Downtown San Francisco on Friday evening, between 5 and 7 pm, as part of the popular Drag Me Downtown series.
