This weekend, lasers will create a massive Pride flag in the sky over San Francisco. The flag originates at the Ferry Building, with rainbow lasers pointing down Market Street, and is visible from miles away. The installation is titled WELCOME, and is a symbol of Pride in San Francisco, perfect as the city prepares for multiple major celebrations.
The laser installation made its 2026 debut on Friday, June 26, and will run each night through the end of the weekend on Sunday, June 28. The rainbow of lasers stretches over four miles and can be seen at various spaces throughout the city.
The laser Pride flag is a recent tradition, making its debut only a few years ago. The installation has grown every year and quickly became a popular installation and symbol of Pride in San Francisco.
WELCOME isn’t the only laser installation to look for this weekend. Last week, a grid of 49 lasers was installed in Civic Center Plaza. The installation, 7X7, will feature rainbow lasers pointed directly towards the sky, and viewers can even walk under the elevated lasers. Then, for the 4th of July, the lasers will be red, white, and blue to celebrate the holiday.
You can see WELCOME throughout the city, however we recommend heading to the Ferry Building for a great view of the lasers up close. San Francisco has plenty of wonderful Pride events this weekend, including the iconic parade and two-day celebration in Civic Center Plaza.
