Good news, SF: the free concerts in San Francisco are continuing in 2025. On January 2nd, acclaimed DJ Toro y Moi will perform a free DJ set in San Francisco. The free show is part of Downtown First Thursdays, a popular event launched this spring to help revitalize downtown SF.
Toro y Moi released his debut album in 2010 and was at the forefront of “chillwave” music. Throughout his career, he’s collaborated with other prominent names like Flume, Travis Scott, and Tyler the Creator. His most recent album, Hole Erth, features collaborations with Kevin Abstract and Don Toliver.
From 7:30 to 9 pm on 2nd and Howard Street, San Franciscans can dance away to Toro y Moi’s set. The performance will be just a month after internet sensation Rebecca Black performed a free DJ set for a crowd of thousands.
You can also expect vendors, food trucks, and other unique performances on January 2nd as part of Downtown First Thursdays. The event blocks off several streets in downtown SF, filling them with performances, art, and more. You can browse through an art gallery, grab drinks at a bar, and pick up food from your favorite local food truck before the show. The event starts at 5 pm, runs through 10 pm, and brings unique performers each month. While you’re downtown, we recommend stopping at SFMOMA, which has free admission for San Francisco residents on January 2nd from 12 to 8 pm.
About Downtown First Thursdays
DTFT in SF debuted in May 2024 in an effort to enliven San Francisco’s downtown. The event is run by Into The Streets, a culture production studio that’s responsible for similar events like Bhangra and Beats, Sunset Night Market, and more. Many local creative partners make the event possible, including Noise Pop, Another Planet Entertainment, and more.
Downtown First Thursdays are always free and open to the public with an online RSVP. Toro y Moi will perform from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on 2nd and Howard Street.
